Will Kyle Dubas try and win with these Penguins next season?

The Pittsburgh Penguins struggled this year and may be eliminated from playoff contention later on this month as the post-season is approaching. With that said, the Penguins GM, Kyle Dubas, has his work cut out for him this offseason. However, this does not mean it is a lost season overall.

Kyle Dubas did his best at the beginning of last year's free agency and draft selection to improve the team’s outlook by acquiring the likes of Eric Karlsson and making a handful of signings.

But here we are today - wholly unfulfilled. However, this seems like the opportunity Kyle Dubas was looking for to improve the team more drastically and start a mini-rebuild the fans are hoping for.

Dubas does have the assets to improve the Penguins team in a more polished way and could make moves as soon as July 1st. With a vast knowledge of the league in his grasp, it will not be difficult for him at first to try to acquire another superstar, and then work on the depth aspect of the Penguins roster.

In another aspect, the ball has started to roll with the GM acquiring forward Michael Bunting in the Jake Guentzel trade with the Hurricanes, who is a natural goal-scorer, and more importantly, will have nearly a full roster to work with. Stemming from the 1-year signings he made last year to a handful of players that will indefinitely clear up space.

Dubas is as sophisticated as he is intelligent and will know how to manage his assets well in order and let’s not forget the cap space he will have available to him during this year’s free agency that will give the Pittsburgh team a new direction to go in.

More importantly, his will and way of negotiating are by far reasonably his strongest asset to believe in. His relationship with players and the coach goes far beyond a regular type of bond and his instincts will tell him where he needs help the most.

All in all, this Penguins team still has the heart to compete and will be ready for a fight no matter what.
