Reinforcements Incoming for Pirates

It’s the moment we’ve all been waiting for. Finally, the Pirates look to commit to the young Bucs for the season. They have brought up Henry Davis, Nick Gonzales, and Jared Triolo already, and recently announced the promotions of fan favorite's Endy Rodriguez, Quinn Priester and Liover Peguero. Will they have what it takes to fire up the locker room and turn this season around? Only time will tell, but maybe there’s a slight chance. 

This is how the Pirates can change the season. The young Bucs are your everyday starters. You bench Austin Hedges for an Endy Rodriguez and Henry Davis platoon. Peguero becomes your everyday starter at shortstop until Oneil Cruz comes back. Triolo is playing great ball right now and has provided the best bat through the last month (which says a lot about this team.) Quinn Priester should also provide a spark in the rotation. He has had very high highs and extremely low lows during his time in Indianapolis. I think the addition of the young prospects can propel a spark to this lifeless team.

More than likely, the season is circling down the drain. Shelton loves Austin Hedges. The pitching has gone downhill from a hot start. And Shelton has put Henry Davis in a position to fail defensively. If anyone can justify why the kid you drafted first overall as a catcher is playing right field, I’d love to hear it. And outside of the prospects, the hitting has been atrocious. The team looks terrible after being swept by the Giants. 

Listen, there is no reason to trust Shelton to manage this team the right way. There’s no reason to trust Andy Haines to make the necessary corrections to improve the bats when the inevitable slump happens. But all hope now lies on the shoulders of the team’s prospects. The Pirates have brought up their number two, three, four, six, seven and sixteen prospects.

It’s time for the change fans have been asking for -- and hopefully a fresh start is coming.
