The NFL schedule release is one of the most anticipated events in the offseason. It brings fans joy and hope and is a great time to predict records and scores for the games. So of course, we’re going to go through each game and give predictions for the upcoming season.
Week 1: Steelers (0-0) @ Falcons
If you love revenge games, the Steelers kick off against new Offensive Coordinator Arthur Smith’s former team. The Falcons upgraded at quarterback after signing Kirk Cousins during free agency. I think the Falcons will be a good team, and Week 1 won’t be easy by any means. But at the end of the day, I think the Steelers will pull off a win to kickstart their season 1-0.
Week 2: Steelers (1-0) @ Broncos
Week 2 is another revenge game, this time for quarterback Russell Wilson. Wilson will be determined to prove that he was not the issue for Denver. I think Russell Wilson throws for at least three touchdowns en route to the Steelers second straight victory.
Week 3: Chargers @ Steelers (2-0)
The Chargers are under a new regime with Jim Harbaugh. Even though they’re currently rebuilding, this game won’t be easy. I think Justin Herbert will have a big game, but Pittsburgh finds a way to win at the end of the game to remain undefeated.
Week 4: Steelers (3-0) @ Colts
The Steelers enter Week 4 one of the few undefeated teams remaining. They travel to Indianapolis to take on a good Colts team. I think this game relies on defense, but the Colts find a way to escape with the win.
Week 5: Cowboys @ Steelers (3-1)
It’s no secret that one of the Steelers weaknesses is their secondary, and the Cowboys strength is their passing attack. I don’t think it’s a blowout, but I don’t see how the Steelers stop the Cowboys and they fall to 3-2.
Week 6: Steelers (3-2) @ Raiders
The Steelers need to get back on track after back-to-back losses. They travel to the west coast where they typically struggle to play the Raiders. I think the Steelers put up at least 25 points, but the defense can’t make the last needed stop and the Steelers fall to 3-3.
Week 7: Jets @ Steelers (3-3)
The Steelers are even more determined to get back in the win column. The Jets are decent with Aaron Rodgers, but not good enough this week. I think the Steelers will win by at least a touchdown to bring their record up to 4-3.
Week 8: Giants @ Steelers (4-3)
The Giants might be the worst team in football this year. That said, the annual Mike Tomlin trap game will be discussed. However, I think the opposite will happen and the Steelers win by at least 17 points.
Week 10: Steelers (5-3) @ Commanders
The Steelers roll into Week 10 coming off their biggest victory and a two-game win streak. Most will think the Steelers will win this game, but I think this is a trap game. The Steelers come back down to Earth after a heart-breaking loss.
Week 11: Ravens (5-4) @ Steelers
The Steelers finally get the chance to play a division rival in Week 11. The key to this week is stopping Derrick Henry. If they can stop him, they can win a close game. I think they will be able to and take victory to boost their record to 6-3.
Week 12: Steelers (6-4) @ Browns
The season is heating up and the Steelers face another division opponent. They travel to Cleveland and score early and often. Cleveland, however, comes back and makes it a tight game. In the end, Pittsburgh will hold them off to start another win streak.
Week 13: Steelers (7-4) @ Bengals
This will be interesting to see if Joe Burrow is available. In this prediction, he will play, and the Steelers and Bengals will have a shootout. Unfortunately for Pittsburgh, it won’t be enough, and the Bengals hand the Steelers their first divisional loss.
Week 14: Browns @ Steelers (7-5)
For the fourth straight week, the Steelers play a divisional game. This time though, I see Pittsburgh playing with revenge from last week. Pittsburgh wins by at least 14 points and brings their record to 8-5.
Week 15: Steelers (8-5) @ Eagles
This game is a tough one to call. I can see either team winning. I think both teams score at least 21 points, but I will give it to the Steelers. I think the defense makes a play and scores a touchdown, and that will be the difference.
Week 16: Steelers (9-5) @ Ravens
The Steelers play the Ravens on a Saturday, so they have to be ready. They’re good against Lamar Jackson, but they need to be able to stop Derrick Henry. Like before, I think they do and sweep the Ravens yet again.
Week 17: Chiefs @ Steelers (10-5)
Merry Christmas! The NFL awarded the Steelers a Christmas game against the Chiefs four days after they played Baltimore. As any Steelers fan knows, the best time to play Pittsburgh is after Baltimore. The Chiefs win this game easily and ruin Christmas for Yinzers.
Week 18: Bengals @ Steelers (10-6)
This last week could determine division winners. With possibly the divisional crown on the line, the Steelers will look to take revenge for their earlier defeat against the Bengals. And they do, barely.
The Steelers finish the season at 11-6, claiming the fifth seed in the playoffs. They have the third toughest schedule, so 11-6 in my opinion, is exceptional. Now if they can win playoff games…
