Ah, much better. The Steelers picked up the slack missing from the past two games and won in a decisive game against the Raiders. It was the first time the Steelers scored 30+ points away from home since 2021 in a losing effort against another AFC West squad, the Chargers. At least it seemed like an away game; it was hard to tell. But anyway, let's go over who made dub possible in this week's MV-3s.
Honorable Mentions:
Cam Heyward - 4 tackles, 1 sack
Donte Jackson - 1 tackle, 1 int
George Pickens - 3 rec, 53 yards
#3: Justin Fields - 14/24, 145 passing yards, 59 rushing yards, 2 rushing TDs
Fields continues to be a stud in the game, as he has not missed a top-three-player list to this point. His passing stats could be more impressive, but he knows when it's time to run, and twice, he found the endzone using his legs. There was only one thrown interception the entire season thus far, and if he can keep the mistakes to a minimum and make the elite plays, Fields will not only have the QB1 position on lock but have the Steelers found their franchise QB in the 25-year old former Buckeye?
#2: T.J. Watt - 5 tackles, 2 forced fumbles
When T.J. Watt isn't playing football, he can make it as a boxer. The way he punches the ball out with pure ferocity is just as impressive as scary. All two fumbles were recovered; one made the offense capitalize and score a TD, and another prevented a TD as it was recovered at the Steelers' 1-yard line! As I try to leave PFF grades out of the analysis, TJ scored a 99 rushing defense grade, and if PFF is praising a Steeler, you know it's a good game. In a rare zero-sack performance, Watt is still the player everyone is talking about as he continues to be the best defensive player on the planet.
#1: Najee Harris - 14 carries, 106 yards, 1 TD
Najee Harris finally makes his debut on the MV-3 list with a banger of a game! A 7.6 yards per carry average and a 36-yard TD run would spell W-I-N for the Steelers. It's his first 100+ yard game since the 2023 season finale in Baltimore. Is late-season Najee here already? Brilliant.
Next week, the Steelers return home to take on the team they beat in the 2011 AFC Championship and the man who beat them in the 2011 Super Bowl. That's quite a storyline! Aaron Rodgers-led New York Jets provide a challenge for players like Breece Hall, Garrett Wilson, and Sauce Gardner, which could make the game difficult for the black and gold brigade. And with the trade deadline in three weeks, could big moves be on the way for Pittsburgh? We'll have to wait and see! Take it one week at a time, yinz!
