Per Ian Rapoport, Davante Adams will join the Aaron Rodgers-led New York Jets! With the Jets sending away a conditional third-round pick, the Steelers must prepare for the new receiver to unite with his former thrower. After defeating Adams' new former team, the Raiders, the Steelers weren't getting off easy, and it seems they'll be facing Davante regardless! But how has the former second-pick fared against the black and gold? Let's go over some history!

The first game was in 2017 in a week twelve matchup. Packers were 5-5, and without Rodgers at the helm, the 2015 5th-round pick Brett Hundley would be at the helm for the majority of the 2017 campaign. And the Steelers had much more success, sporting an 8-2 record, the Killer B's in full swing, and the defensive line at full strength with Cam Heyward, Stephon Tuitt, Bud Dupree, and a rookie named T.J. Watt (have you heard of him?) The game would be a lot closer than believed to be as the Packers offense would click nicely, with Hundley throwing nearly 250 yards, three touchdowns, and no interceptions. Tied 28-28 late in the fourth, but an incredible toe-tap by Antonio Brown would put the Steelers in range to kick a field goal with Chris Boswell. A 53-yarder would grant the Steelers the win in a great game. Davante Adams would have his way in the game with five receptions, 82 yards, and a touchdown in the highly-contested late-season game.

It would be four years before Adams would face Pittsburgh again. In 2021, a week three matchup would pit Roethlisberger and Rodgers together for the first time since the 2011 Super Bowl. The result would stay the same as Rodgers would light up the Steelers D with nearly 250 passing yards, two touchdowns, and zero picks. Davante would have an average game with five receptions and 64 yards, as Randall Cobb was more of the favorite target that day for Rodgers. Adams's first win against the Steelers as the Packers would win 27-17 and become 3-1 as the Steelers fell to 1-3.

Next year, Adams would join the Raiders, and the Steelers would face off in a Christmas Eve matchup. It would be a low-scoring affair as the Steelers would win 13-10 in the Immaculate Reception 50-Year Anniversary Game. Adams would be ineffective this game as his passer, Derek Carr, was picked off thrice. The former year-ago Packer would get two catches and 15 yards in the 12°F game.

In his final game against the Steelers before the matchup on Sunday, Adams would have his best game vs. the Steelers but still come up short at the end of the day. In a week three matchup, Davante would get 13 catches, 172 yards, and 2 TDs. But the Raiders would come short 23-18 as the Steelers moved up 2-1, and the Raiders fell 1-2.

Davante Adams is 1-3 against the Steelers, but can he make it 2? We don't even know if he will even play in the Sunday night game with a supposed hamstring injury. But we've seen this before: a player over-exaggerates an injury so he doesn't have to play with a bad team, and then all of a sudden, he's doing just fine on a new team. We've seen it with Christian McCaffrey and Jalen Ramsey, but we'll see what happens. (Note: I am not saying Davante Adams is faking an injury; just making an observation of past trends) Will the Steelers be made an example with the reunion of Aaron and Adams? Or is this just a mirage for the Jets? Sunday night is MUST-WATCH!
