Last week, we talked about fixing the interior offensive line by taking Jackson Powers-Johnson. I still think the Steelers will draft a center this year. Mike Tomlin and the Steelers brass have not shied away from the offensive line during the Shrine and Senior Bowls. But it’s not so clear who they will take, and they might draft center in a later round. So, this week, we’re going to talk about another fan favorite, Zach Frazier.

The West Virginia product stands 6’3” and 311 pounds. The mammoth of a man can be an excellent fit in Pittsburgh. He has a wrestling background so the leverage game shouldn’t be an issue. He gave up zero sacks in 806 offensive snaps. And he is a beast in the run game. Frazier is projected to be a day-one starter and an obvious upgrade over Mason Cole.

So why Frazier? Since he is projected to be a day-two pick, it gives the Steelers a chance to either draft offensive tackle or defensive back in the first round. Frazier will fit in the starting lineup immediately and should excel under Arthur Smith. And he’s a Pennsylvania kid, so he might get a hometown discount at Primanti Bros.

If everything works out, the Steelers would have found at least two more starters in this year’s draft, adding from last year's. He has the potential to be a very good center for a long time here in Pittsburgh. And the Steelers are one step closer to a Super Bowl. Frazier is a stud, and if you’re not on the bandwagon yet, I suggest you hop on.

If it doesn't work out as fans hope, then it’s still an upgrade over Mason Cole. The Steelers should still improve in the run game and passing game as well. Frazier is a rock and a foundational piece to an offensive line. One thing I think he’ll need to work on is hand placement and timing on passing plays. But it should work out at the end of the day, as there don’t seem to be many flaws in his game.

What do you think about drafting Frazier with the 51st pick? If you were the Steelers General Manager, would you consider him? I would and believe he would be a great addition to this team.
