By now you're probably aware of the Steelers' undesirable path to making the playoffs. It's fairly simple math. The Steelers would first have to defeat the Ravens in Baltimore, which will be no easy task. Even without star QB Lamar Jackson the Ravens opened up as a 5.5 point favorite over Pittsburgh.
If that happens, the entirety of Western Pennsylvania will turn their attention to the Jacksonville Jaguars. If the Jags can beat the Colts, the Steelers would likely enter the playoffs as the 7th and final wild card seed, barring the Raiders-Chargers game doesn't end in a tie.
So it's safe to say that Steelers Nation, and even the Steelers themselves have their eyes on Jacksonville. So much that even Chris Wormley told us on his show: "if we win and the Jags win I'll buy a Trevor Lawrence jersey. I promise you that."
Here's the good news for anyone searching for some last minute hope. The Colts haven't won in Jacksonville since 2014. One of the games was played in London, with the Jaguars acting as the "home team." And the two teams played in Indianapolis earlier this year to a close affair. The Colts won that game 23-17.
Here's the bad news: Indianapolis was installed as a 15.5 point favorite by the Vegas' oddsmakers. The Jags have lost their last 8 games, a streak that started with their loss in Indy. Last week, they lost 50-10 to the New England Patriots.
The Steelers' waning playoff hopes rely on the back of rookie QB Trevor Lawrence. And if he's able to pull the upset, we know at least one Steeler will be wearing his name on their back.
