Besides the season itself, NFL fans have another reason to be excited. Fantasy football returns! Everyone can't wait to select their players and destroy their friends in fantasy matchups throughout the year. But who are the players to target? The Pittsburgh Steelers have some good options to choose from on the team. Let's take a look at them now!
Najee Harris:
It's no secret Harris is an elite back to have as a starter in your lineup. But given the circumstances, he could be the key reason you win by the end of the year. Think about this; Najee Harris, who carried the ball 307 times for 1200 yards and 7 touchdowns, has never fumbled in the regular season - and could be often used on goal line runs for touchdowns. And he is behind an improved offensive line. He also has been reliable and had 206 points in fantasy last year. The only reason I would hesitate to take Najee is because the Steelers have said they plan to lighten his workload, but the Steelers haven't named a RB2 yet for him. Despite this, Najee is still a favorite to leave the draft board early.
Diontae Johnson:
Johnson could either be in his final season as a Steeler - or his career here could just be beginning. Either way, he's a solid pickup in fantasy. He brings speed and good hands to the table with people comparing him to Antonio Brown (skill wise!) and the Steelers have been looking for their next WR1 since the departure of --- well, Antonio Brown. The man got 142 total points last year and was reliable when it mattered for fantasy owners, (trust me I know I had him last year.) Plus if the Steelers don't plan to resign him, that gives him more reason to step up to prove he deserves a big deal going to another team or if the Steelers want to try a last minute deal before free agency next year hits.
Pat Freiermuth:
Freiermuth made a name for himself last year after being named the Steelers number one tight end and was a good target in the red zone, meaning an automatic 6 points for fantasy owners and the Steelers alike. Scoring 91 points on the year, which may not seem like a lot but also keep in mind he had to work his way up the depth chart early in the year, imagine what he can do as a starter a whole season! Plus with a fresh arm now throwing to him, the future looks bright for MUTH.
Chase Claypool:
This may be one people might disagree with, but think about this. Claypool has a lot to prove and that should give him the fire to prove his statement that he is a "top 3 wide receiver". Plus, he has the intangibles to be one. Size, speed, hands. He has all the makings to be an elite receiver. He scored 111 points last year and that's not too bad. And again with a fresh arm throwing deep balls to him, Claypool has what he needs to succeed in fantasy and in the league in general.
George Pickens:
This is an interesting one considering he is just a rookie. But the Steelers are known to select talented receivers in the draft without even using a first round pick. Pickens has skills to make an impact on the roster for the Steelers and your team too! 6'3 and a physical receiver with long arms and good hands. Offensive coordinator Matt Canada has complimented the former Georgia receiver calling him "dynamic". Should open some eyes for fantasy owners looking for another receiver.
