The Pittsburgh Steelers brass have always been terrific at identifying talent at outside linebacker. Could David Perales be the next diamond in the rough?
Perales was one of the most productive edge rushers in ALL of Division 1 college football last season, registering 11.5 sacks, which was good for 7th in the nation. So why did he go undrafted? Unfortunately, injuries held him back -- and he just wasn't himself at Fresno State's Pro Day.
However, the Steelers didn't seem to mind, as he immediately received a call from the Black & Gold as the draft ended.
Now he's doing things like going to the movies with Cam Heyward, fishing with fellow rookie Keeanu Benton, and being an understudy to Alex Highsmith. Perales said that Highsmith "is somebody he's always watched, even in college - so being able to pick his brain has been awesome."
Perales joined "The Sick Podcast - Steelers Crazy," to talk about his journey to the NFL, his conversations with the coaches, and his drive and determination to fulfill his potential in Pittsburgh. WATCH BELOW!!
