You could say this one came out of left field. Or from Myles away. Either way, ESPN's Adam Schefter just reported that the Pittsburgh Steelers have signed former Jacksonville Jaguars linebacker Myles Jack to a 2 year deal worth 16 million.
In 6 years with the Jaguars, Jack had 6.5 sacks, 3 interceptions and 4 fumble recoveries. He wasn't asked to rush the passer often as an inside linebacker, but he is versatile, and has played some outside linebacker also. His most impressive stats are his 513 total tackles, and the fact that he's only missed 9 games in 6 years.
In September of 2019, Jack signed a four-year, 57 million dollar extension that made him the third highest paid inside linebacker in all of football. Just two years later, Jack was cut by the Jaguars, after a spending-spree has included the team handing out top dollar to the likes of ex-Cardinals receiver Christian Kirk. Hmm.
The Steelers will be okay with that. Jack should immediately slot in right next to Devin Bush in the Steelers front-seven. He also gets to now play for Brian Flores, the new linebackers coach, and senior defensive assistant. It's hard to not feel like this is a match-made in heaven. And it's arguably one of Kevin Colbert's biggest Free Agent signings of his tenure.

Baseball may be back, but this is the biggest home run you’ll see all year.
