They say the most commonly named "fear" among humans is public speaking. That certainly wasn't the case for Mitch Trubisky today. At least he didn't show it.
Speaking to the Pittsburgh media for the first time, Trubisky was calm, cool and collected. Those are words that weren't often used to describe his play on the field throughout his time with the Chicago Bears.
Trubisky handled every question with grace and professionalism. One of the main points he harped on was how important culture is to him. He was asked about his time with the Bills last season and how his time in their organization could translate to Pittsburgh:
"I learned a lot (with Buffalo). The first thing I really learned is what a great culture feels like. And I can already feel that here in my short time in Pittsburgh."
That's like an academy award winner type line.
Trubisky was also asked about the Steelers' presumed starter prior to his signing, Mason Rudolph.
He mentioned that his main priority throughout his free agent process was to find a team where he could earn a starting job. He didn't self-proclaim himself the starter. And he openly welcomed the competition that will likely unfold this fall. Trubisky said he hadn't met Rudolph yet, but did meet QB Dwayne Haskins today.
Mitch, which he said he goes by, also said that many Steelers' players have already reached out to him. That list includes Najee Harris, Chase Claypool, Diontae Johnson, Pat Freiermuth and Chris Wormley.
"I'm beyond excited to be in Pittsburgh," said Trubisky. Apparently, he's not the only one who feels that way.
