Broad Offseason Outlook for Kyle Dubas and Penguins

New GM Kyle Dubas of the Pittsburgh Penguins is a perfect fit for the team, because of the style of his resume and the ability to put together a team around quality star players, like he did in Toronto surrounding Auston Matthews.

And of course, that’s the primary goal here.

Kyle Dubas is part of a newer generation of GMs. Still, his track record where he started with the Toronto Maple Leafs, is as follows: he is a quality general manager and a role model that can maintain a great relationship with the players on the team as well.

As President of Team Operations and temporary general manager till August, he will assert himself well into the picture by the time the season starts, hopefully making significant changes and earning the confidence of the ownership.His first order of business is to acquire certain players that will complement Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, and Kris Letang.

As a GM with the Toronto Maple Leafs, he had the intent of putting together an all-star team, but he was restricted a bit due to the constraints from upper management.

He will without a doubt have more freedom to work around the clock in Pittsburgh and do his best to ensure a significant team is put together by September during the opening season and has all the tools to make moves accordingly with that structure.

The statistics involved with hockey in today’s game make a big difference in analyzing the game and any sport, rather than looking at it in an old-school manner, because of the depth it provides and results it ensues with that matter.

Analytics are a huge part of today’s game, looked upon by many sports figures and analysts that provide the numbers to the public for record purposes and dwell around the benches for the coaches and their players.

Their say will be important as well, and the coaching staff will look to build off management and thrive under the new regime.

To question which players will be available will be the real question and to see how these moves are made will be the most interesting part of this storyline. 

But what is for certain my Yinzers is that changes are coming and be prepared to take off.
