Carter has had several short stints around the NFL, spending most of his time on various practice squads.
Carter started his college career at Rutgers, only appearing in a handful of games before transferring to James Madison University after the season. As a sophomore Carter was a rotational player for the Dukes, appearing in every game. During his junior season, he started all 13 games for JMU, racking up 58 tackles, 13 tackles for loss, and 7.5 sacks.
In his senior season, he started all 16 games as a defensive end, registering 66 tackles, 27 tackles for loss, and 12 sacks.
After his time at James Madison University Carter went undrafted and signed with the Dallas Cowboys as an UDFA. He was waived during cuts and resigned to the team’s practice squad.
The Colts signed him off of the practice squad, but Carter never played a down while in Indianapolis and was waived after 5 weeks, he was claimed by the Cowboys.
He was active for 3 of the final four weeks, mostly seeing time on special teams. The Cowboys extended Carter in the offseason but then released him in August cutdowns.
Later that season Carter was signed to the Arizona Cardinals practice squad. He was later signed off the practice squad by the Houston Texans after not appearing in a game for the Cardinals.
He appeared in one game for the Texans during the 2021-2022 season. He was then waived by the Texans in April of this year.
