Story by Yinzer Crazy's Patrick Maina
New Safety Damontae Kazee had to leave the Steelers final preseason game against the Detroit Lions in the second half due to an arm injury. Damontae's injury is unfortunately serious, and may require surgery. But there is a bit of good news - he was kept on the 53-man roster and the team thinks he can return at some point this season. Damontae's injury came a few minutes into the second half as he tackled a leaping runner on the sideline.
Damontae, a former Dallas Cowboy, was signed in March by the Steelers as a free agent and signed a one-year contract.
The Steelers have been banking on Minkah Fitzpatrick, Terrell Edmunds, and Damontae, and without Damontae in the lineup, the two will have a big task to fill up those shoes.
Damontae now ends up on the Reserve/Injured List (IR). With two weeks until the start of the regular season, the Steelers had to place Damontae on the 53-man roster for 24 hours beginning Tuesday.
Stay tuned to Yinzer Crazy for the latest news and notes surrounding the Steelers as they head into the regular season on September 11th.
