Oh, Pittsburgh, you think you're funny, don't you? Losing to my two least favorite teams in one season (Browns and Cowboys) after my confidence was at an all-time high after beating two great teams in two weeks is just grand! And to make it worse, the player who talked trash all week, Myles Garrett, had a stellar game. So allow me to swallow my pride and congratulate Cleveland, but I don't want to hear anything until the last Cleveland-Pittsburgh game is played in two weeks. However, this series is about positivity and reviewing the elite plays and players contributing to the effort. If you want the negativity, check out Facebook. Let's go over the positives!
Honorable Mentions:
Donte Jackson - 3 tackles, 1 pass defense
Patrick Queen - 7 tackles, 1 pass defense, 1 QB hit
Cam Heyward - 6 tackles, 2 pass defenses
#3: Jaylen Warren - 11 carries, 45 rushing yards, 1 rushing TD, 3 rec, 19 receiving yards
When there's something stopping...Najee from running...who you gonna call??? Jaylen Warren! Warren mustered up over 60 offensive yards with running and receiving. Even a three-yard touchdown run made the game one score before eventually taking the lead, and I wish the game had just ended there. Everything else was sad.
#2: Calvin Austin - 3 rec, 78 receiving yards, 1 receiving TD
Between the starting receiver and tight end, Austin had the least receptions and targets but still had more yards and touchdowns. A 46-yard catch for a first down on third and long led to the first points for Pittsburgh via a field goal. Austin also brought back some premature optimism with a touchdown-catching lead. Austin has had some excellent games and proves he can go when Pickens is locked down. He has speed and good hands, as he only has one drop all season.
#1: Russell Wilson - 21/28, 270 passing yards, 1 passing TD, 3 carries, 10 rushing yards, 1 fumble
It's not Russell's fault. This man was pressured 16 times, hurried 11 times, hit twice, and sacked thrice! The offensive line was as offensive as a comedian with a Twitter account. Wilson was sacked and hit more than Patrick Mahomes in Super Bowl 55, and Wilson had a better game than he did. Despite the fumble, Wilson did just fine and looks still primed as QB1. The hope is he can keep the momentum going into Cincinnati next Sunday as the Steelers get over a week of prep time.
Next Sunday, to kick off December, the Steelers will stay in Ohio for a battle in Cincinnati against the Bengals, who have a losing record but are still talented and dangerous. Can the Steelers get over the hump and get back to their winning ways? I hope so because I'm going to the game, and the Steelers are 2-0 when I go to a game of theirs. Can I keep the streak alive? Please, Pittsburgh, just win, baby.
