Ben’s ascension to the top of the football world - as Super Bowl champion, Pro Bowler and future Hall of Famer - has been worth watching every second of, and the day he is finally enshrined in Canton will be well worth the wait. After all, only the most prescient of us can attest to seeing Ben on stage at Radio City Music Hall in 2004 and confidently exclaiming, “that guy’s a Hall of Famer!”

In the context of this list, it’s no surprise that the top quarter of Ben’s 100 best touchdown passes are dominated by feature plays from the first five years of his professional career. There are occasional flashbacks to his glory days with Antonio Brown, even a brief appearance from Martavis Bryant, but the majority of his finest plays are highlights of Ben’s younger days, from rookie year to Super Bowl 43 champion.

As with any career, there are dips and lapses in production. There was the atrocious 2006 season in which Ben battled through the cumulative effects of an offseason motorcycle accident and an appendectomy. Despite a Super Bowl appearance later the same season, 2010 brought a four-game suspension for the Steelers all-time leading signal caller and with that, mostly unwarranted character concerns that followed him his whole career. There were years in which his play failed to live up to his potential, and most recently, in 2020 and 2021, it became apparent that Ben had lost his touch a bit.

Off the field, Ben has grown into a father and role model that the city of Pittsburgh can be proud of.
He’s stepped into the new role of retired NFL quarterback rather comfortably, becoming an ambassador-of-sorts for the city and championing the causes that mean the most to him. It’s a worrisome transition for some, as many find the adjustment to life post-NFL to be rather difficult. But for Ben, there’s no doubt the chance to deliver an induction speech at Canton will be as much a personal accomplishment as a professional one. It’s a moment every Steelers fan will be waiting on, and it’ll be worth the wait.
