Well, that hurt. There are two teams I hate losing to: Cleveland and the team the Steelers just lost to. The Cowboys deliver a backbreaker to the players and fans of Pittsburgh as the Steelers take their second loss of the season in a row and are now sitting in second place in the AFC North. At least the Browns are unraveling. Maybe the AFC North is back to normal. The Steelers and Ravens compete for the top spot, and the Browns and Bengals compete for third. Anyway, let's look at the three best players from the Sunday night/morning game in the wetlands of Pittsburgh.
Honorable Mentions:
Joey Porter Jr. - 4 tackles, 1 pass defense, 1 interception
Connor Heyward - 2 rec, 23 yards, 1 TD
Pat Freiermuth - 3 rec, 22 yards, 1 TD
#3: Justin Fields - 15/27, 131 passing yards, 2 TDs, 27 rushing yards, 1 fumble
Last week, I said Justin Fields is QB1. And now people wonder if the team would be better under Russell Wilson or Kyle Allen. I mean, when Kyle Allen did get a nice throw to Freiermuth that set up a TD when Fields got roughed up. I'm kidding, of course. Fields could have been better, but every quarterback has a less-than-stellar game, and if this is his worst, then it shouldn't be a question if Fields should remain QB1. Let me know your thoughts on Twitter, though!
#2: Donte Jackson - 4 tackles, 1 pass defense, 1 interception
An underrated pickup in the offseason is former Panther Donte Jackson! It was his second interception of the season and a clutch one, as he picked off Prescott from his favorite target, Cee Dee Lamb, at the goal line and kept the game within three points to end the half. Along with Porter and Herbig, Jackson would keep victory possible then.
#1: T.J. Watt - 6 tackles, 1 forced fumble, 2 sacks
T.J. Watt? Being the best player on the Steelers? What is this, nearly every game since 2017? Kidding, of course---sort of. He has 100 sacks now for his incredible career since going from Badger to Steeler. It's funny that his first sack was against my least favorite team, and his 100th was against my second. Either way, congratulations to Mr. Watt on another achievement for his hall-of-fame career! And it was another excellent game for him, too! The win would've made it sweeter, but still, it is a nice accolade to add, and he is also now halfway to the all-time forced fumble record with 27 total after this game, and the record is 54. Another excellent game for Watt!
Next week, the Steelers travel to the Sin City of Las Vegas to face the Raiders. The Steelers have only beaten the Raiders on the road once, and that was last year. The Raiders have been less than stellar this year with a 2-3 record, but they have beaten every AFC North team thus far with wins against the Browns and Ravens. And with star players like Davante Adams, Brock Bowers, and Maxx Crosby posing a threat every down, it won't be an easy outing in Las Vegas. And with the Steelers now in second place in the North behind Baltimore, a win is essential. Can the Steelers pull it off, or are the Raiders on track to get to .500?
